Dirty and Simple Father's Day card

Since Father's Day is just a few days away I decided to make a card for Kit today. I wanted it to be very guy like with no embellishments. I pulled out my CTMH stamps and came across this set. We all love to ride Quads and have several to ride around our property on. I gave this card a "dirty" look by sponging around the edges with black ink. Nothing big, but I think he'll like it.....

Homemade gifts

I just found out this week that the man who hired me is going to be leaving our store and going to one in Newnan. This is very upsetting to me, but it's a very good move for him. I wanted to express my thankfulness to him for giving me a job so I decided to make him some bread. I ground the wheat and made it in my bread machine. I'm not good at kneading so it's not the prettiest looking bread, but it tastes good.
I used some of my JustRite stampers for the tag along with some October Afternoon paper (love that stuff).I then made a card to go with it. Can you tell it's not exactly straight? I always seem to get mine a little off and I try so hard to line everything up. Maybe it's cuz I'm left handed? I hope he likes it and will remember how he helped a family get through a tough time by giving me a job.
One more thing, have you seen this month's PTI release? I am in LOVE... I have to get the Tea For Two stamp sets and dies. They are too cool. I may have to sell some of my other stuff, but I know I'd use those sets all the time. Check it out at http://www.papertreyink.com/

Note card set

My SIL sent me a kit to put together from one of her lady get togethers. We both love to paper craft so we share as often as we can while still living 5 hours apart. I had forgotten exactly what the card set was supposed to look like so I just went to town working on my own thing. That's what I love so much about card making, you can add so much of your own personal touch and it still *works*. I know I need all the help I can get with creativity {grin}.
BTW, I gave this as a gift to my Neice so that she could have a small stash of cards ready to go out when needed. She loved it, which made me feel so good.

Tea gift holder

I had a day off so I thought I might do some crafting. After looking at Kim Bell's blog I knew what I wanted to do. She is one of my fav. bloggers. You can check her out at Endlessinkabilities. A really cute and easy gift is a tea card holder. Who doesn't like a good cup of tea? The paper is October Afternoon (I'm starting to really love them) and the card stock is PTI Kraft. Let me know what y'all think....

FWF Friday

This is my first challenge with Unity. I'm excited to start crafting again. I had to take some time off to adjust to working again. I'm feeling pretty good with balancing everything now.
This is a simple card, but I love how it turned out. I used two different Unity KOM. The flowers came from Aug 2009 and the sentiment came from March 2010 KOM.The paper is PTI (I'm really loving everything they have). Ink and brads are SU. Thanks for looking.......T

A birthday gift

I have to get a bit creative these days with gifts. Since we are so tight with funds I have to make things. My daughter has quite a few friends who have birthday's close to each other so I decided to make these chipboard books. It takes a long time to make just one, but it's something the girls can keep for a long time. I had in mind that they would put pictures of their parties and have people sign the book that were at the party.
I used several different media types. I cut out felt, used some bling (rhinestones), crop a dile, paper flowers, and ribbon. I wish it didn't take so long to make, but I really hope they will like it.

A little Unity action

It's been a long time since I've done any crafting. My new job has taken my attention lately. I have been missing it though. It's like going back to an old friend who always makes you feel good. I needed some time at my table today.
The job is going well. I can honestly say that I love being at home the most and don't feel like I've really missed out on anything over the last 15 years of being there. Kit will be having surgery on his shoulder this coming Monday. From there we are looking at the min. of 6 months healing before things may go back to normal. I am very thankful that I was given a job to help us during this time. It's rough out there so I know I'm blessed.
Okay, now some stamping talk. I LOVE this month Kit from Unity. I saw the store one and like that one even more, but I'll have to love that from a distance for now. I colored in the thread with ink.The sentiment doesn't show up very well, but it is what it is. Sometimes I feel just like I'm hanging by a thread so I can relate. :o)

Ippity challenge creation

The challenge this week is to make a spring or Easter card/project. I wanted to make another pizza box set so I pulled out my Regal Greetings stamp set. I embossed the image on the box.

Here are the four cards that go in the box.

Lastly this is what it lookes like in the box. The lid stays down nice and neatly.

Pizza box with 3 x 3 cards

I was invited to spend the day crafting with my favorite crafting buddy a few days ago. I was able to meet her sister and have fun gabbing and creating. I decided on doing a pizza box card set while I was there. I loved it so much that I came home and made another set right away.
I find that sometimes a small card is more fitting then a full size card, so I wanted some on hand.

Here are the four cards that fit neatly into the box. I used crate paper (streamer paper) to make the flowers. I found a ton of rolls at some thrift stores today so I took advantage of the cheap price and thought I would see how it worked.

I am really into spring colors right now so this set very much appealed to me.I embossed two of the four cards with SU polka dot folder. This was a blast to make and I think I'll be making some more this week.
Have a great weekend y'all.........

Go with the flow

I made this card with the ippity hop in mind. It has taken me forever to figure out how the hop works, but I think I've got it down now. I didn't realize the hop was different from the challenge, so that would be why I was confused. We're supposed to have our cards posted by 9 am on Monday to make the hop and I kept thinking "How in the world can we do that when we don't know what type of card to make?". I now know how it all works.
I used the Fishy Philosophy set with this card. This set didn't really appeal to me at first so I figured I wouldn't use it much, but I'm happy to report that I LOVE it. Leave it to ippity to come up with some unique stamp sets. I'm hooked.....

More Spring colors

I broke out the Nestibilities today and went to town. I really like the layered look, don't you? The sentiment is from Unity's AUG KOM. I had a chance to get it at a great price  so I jumped on it. There are so many stamps in it that I LOVE.. I'm still trying to learn how to use the glitter the best way possible. I've seen such beautiful cards made using it so I'm going to keep trying until I get it down.
Hope y'all are having a bright sunny day.

Spring is in the air

I found a blog that I just adore,  http://scrapbookgirl.typepad.com/
It is full of spring colors, flowers and glitter. I've found so much inspiration from reading Betsy's blog.
This card came about from looking at her blog. It took me awhile to do, but it was so much fun. There are flowers, buttons and ribbon oh my!!!

Here is a close up of the top. I need to learn how to tie bows better, but this was the best I could come up with. Who wouldn't love to get a little card like this in the mail? Now, I'm off to do more crafting....

Simple Unity card

Sometimes I just like to make something quick and simple. This was one of those days. I am lovin' Unity's KOM. These two stamps come from this month's "Rockin' it Unity Style." I also used some Spellbinder's Nestabilities. I wish I had all of those sets. They work great in my Big Shot.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. I'm looking forward to it.

Spinner card

I love to get ideas from other crafters so I spend time blogging. I have a few blogs that I go to every day and http://www.chicnscratch.typepad.com/ is one of them. Angie Juda made these cute spinner cards and so I decided to give it a try. I used a Unity stamp from March's KOM and used SU paper. The semtiment is from SU as well..
I am part of shareacard.org, which is sending homemade cards to those with illnesses. It was important to me that I use the cards that I make. It does cost money to have a hobby like this so I like knowing that I can bring a smile to someone's face.
This card will be going in the mail tomorrow to a young lady who battles cancer. You might want to look into sending cards yourself. Who doesn't love to open the mail box and have a homemade card waiting for them there?

Chipboard fun

Keeping on with new techniques. Today I did something simple, but fun. I did some stamping on chipboard.
I found a lone letter in my drawer so I just used it. I also used one of my new ippity sets, Regal Greetings. I'm really liking these new sets. If you're looking for some ideas of card layouts I recommend the Wishes book from CTMH. I just love everything about it and am learning so much. Take care......

Technique #2: emboss resist

I tried another technique out of my CTMH Wishes book. This card took me 2 hours to do. I think it's way to long for a card, but I had fun trying something new. So you heat emboss the background and then sponge over it. I then added all the rest. The sentiment says "Time for your shower", but it's hard to see that in this picture.Overall, the project was fun, but I would choose a different color next time. I'm on a purple overload right now. :o) Tomorrow it's off to do another new technique. See you then....

ippity challenge

Use green and a neutral color. The sentiment says "thinking of you". It's a little hard to see in the pic, but it's much easier in person. I received my ippity stamps today so I just had to break into them.I'm really lovin' the paper as well.

Technique #1 Ghosting

Front
Back
I really don't know if anyone is looking at my blog, but I'm going to pretend that you're there. Like I said in my last post I am going to try some new techniques from a book I just got from CTMH. I'm loving this "Ghosting" technique. So what you do is heat emboss an image onto a card then distress it with some ink. Now you get a white piece of cardstock to put over the image and iron it. Yes, I said iron it. When you lift the white paper you'll see that the image has transfered onto it, thus creating a "Ghost" look.
Very cool. This card has a few mistakes on it, but I like it.
I'm not a sewer so I stamped a stitched look from a CTMH stamp set. I know it's all the rage right now, but I just hate sewing. I do love stamping though.
If you're out there please leave me a comment so I know. I'd love to hear from y'all. Happy crafting......

Happy Birthday the Unity way

We had a birthday at our house and so I decided to make a card. I've been wanting to get my hands on my first Unity stamp set so what better time? I just added a few buttons to it to give it some depth. This is a very simple card to make and takes no time at all.
I just got a book on card making, tips and techniques, so in the next few days I'm going to be trying out some more challenging cards. If any of them turn out I'll be posting. Happy crafting.............

As for my and my house.....

ippity challenge: Dry Emboss something
I started out with one idea, but chucked that cuz it just didn't look right. So, this is what I ended with. I love using the embossing folders with my Big Shot. It's quick and easy and completely changes the look of solid color paper.
I'm looking forward to using my new ippity stamp sets. I think I should be getting those early next week sometime, but for now I'll keep using the ones I have. I just love ippity and have started getting the monthly Unity stamps. I'd love to hear what some of your fav. stamp company's are.......

Simple card set with holder.

This set is very easy to make and doesn't require any special dies. You just cut and fold.

I made 6 cards to go in this set. Most make around 5, but I wanted to make sure I had 2 in all the colors.

they fit all snug in the holder. I will add the vanilla envelopes when I get them.
Thanks for looking and happy crafting....

I've had a lot more free time lately due to my hubby being home more, so I've been doing my favorite thing, crafting. This card is not my creation, but I just had to make it when I saw it. Here's the blog that I got the idea from http://vimeo.com/stampwithtami. Tammi is a very creative, exciting  lady who is so much fun to watch craft.. Check her out. I'll be back again in a day to add some more pictures of some creations. Happy crafting.......

Isn't it nice to come home????

This week for the {ippity} challenge we were ask to make a card for a boy. I thought of all the young men (and women)  who are over fighting a war for us and how nice it would be to be able to give them one of these. I'm sure many families are anxiously awaiting their "Welcome Home" moment. I thought the script background worked well because of all the letters that go back and forth when you're far away from loved ones/home.  That was my thought process, but I see how this card can work for many other "Welcome Home" celebrations.
I gotta say that I love paper crafting. Isn't it relaxing? I have to admit that I really needed it today. I wish for you all to have that special "time" to be able to relax and smile. I'm sure for many of y'all it is with crafting because now I'm off to look at all of your beautiful creations.........

A card for my Father In Law

My FIL has been in the hospital since last Friday. He had to have surgery, but he just made it home. I really wanted to make him a card that was more then just "Get well soon." This is what I came up with. I love CTMH stamps. They have a country feel to them and I love that. I'm much happier with the way this card turned out then yesterday's.
On another note, I just received my Unity stamps today. YAY!!! I love them. They have a country  fun feel to them as well. I just need to figure out how to store them. Any suggestions?

Another card for the ippity hop

I don't know about y'all, but I'm excited to get the winter release of  ippity stamps. They are soooo cute.
Until I get my hands on them I'll be using the sets I already have. This was the first time using the birdcage stamp. I like it, but I picture it with lots of glitter. I guess I don't know how to use glitter yet cuz mine just didn't turn out. What do y'all do to glitter an image? I used Versamark, but it just didn't hold much glitter.
My SIL is just as crazy about stamping as I am. We talk all the time about styles and products. She turned me on to Spellbinders and I'm so glad she did. I've always liked them, but I didn't know I could use my big shot with them. Guess what? You can use just about any product with the Big Shot. AWESOME!!!!
I'm not thrilled with this card, but it's my first time using the Nestabilities and Cuttlebug so I'm keeping it.
I want y'all to know that you encourage me. I'm always going to your blogs and learning so much. Thank you for sharing part of your life with me. I guess I'll be seeing you on your blogs.

Valentine Card for ippity challenge

Today was fun hopping around on ippity blogs. I've noticed that everyone has such a nice, organized blog with lots of bling on them. I've got to figure out how to do that. I'm still trying to figure out how to upload an Unity tag {giggle}.

So, here is my take on a MANLY Valentine card. It just so happens that this Valentine's Day I'll be celebrating 18 years of marriage with my DH. I just don't see how I can be that old. Anyway, this card will be the first one I give to him that's home made. I just hope it's not too "girly" cuz he is a good ole' country boy.

I do have a question for y'all. Where do you find the big pokey things that you stand your card up in to photograph? My barbie one is just not that strong any more, and my DD is wanting it back.......

first blog post

I never thought I'd be creating a blog, but here I am. I really want to be able to be a part of {ippity} blog hop over at Splitcoaststampers, so I'm taking the plunge and learning all about blogging.
I'm posting a card I did this week for the {ippity} challenge. Wish me luck as I continue down this new road.....
